How quickly do I need to choose a funeral home?

Usually quite soon after the death, especially if you need the person collected into care. If you are unsure, a funeral director can explain the first steps and what can wait.

Can I ask for prices before making an appointment?

Yes. A reputable funeral home should be open about costs and explain what is included, what is optional and which fees are paid to third parties.

What is the difference between a Basic Funeral and Direct Cremation?

A Basic Funeral usually includes a simple attended service, while Direct Cremation is an unattended cremation with no funeral service at the crematorium at that time.

Do funeral homes help with Repatriation?

Some do, but not all. If a loved one needs to be brought into or out of the UK, ask whether the funeral home manages Repatriation regularly and handles the paperwork.
